Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely holiday.
Please use our website to find out what we will be learning throughout this year, keep up-to-date with upcoming events; find useful documentation linked to our curriculum using the Files to Download.
You can also view our gallery and Blog items which will show you just how much fun we have had learning throughout this year!
This Autumn term, we will be learning all about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings in our history topic. This will take many forms over the course of term, as we find out about how the Anglo-Saxons affected our country, write stories and play scripts about Viking raids and even meet a ‘real-life’ Anglo-Saxon or Viking and excavate a grave on our trip to Weaver Hall.
Along with our cross-curricular writing about the Anglo-Saxons, we will be reading a dark and spooky version of Hansel and Gretel by Neil Gaiman and basing writing across a range of genres on this book.
In Maths, we will be beginning our year 5 work by looking at Place Value, rounding, negative numbers and comparing and ordering numbers, before we begin to look at our written methods of addition and subtraction.
Much of our work in maths this year is aided by a sound knowledge of times tables, so please help your children practice in any way you can at home.
Please click here to visit the BBC bitesize website to practise aspects in all the three subjects- maths, science and English. Our calculation policy on the website is very useful to practise methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Please click here to practise times tables in a fun way!
